THE DISH: Coffee Collective

When Caleb Evans opened the Coffee Collective in 2023, it was with a shared vision. Hannah and Will of the growing real estate group The Property Collective had a prime location amongst the businesses of Kingston and with that came Canberrans in need of their daily brew.

Not one to let Canberrans go in need when a coffee fix is in order, Caleb set about to create a space where specialty coffee and sustainable practices combined and where simplicity and good food reign.

“We try not to overcomplicate things that we love. Our menu is small and aims to please. Local suppliers, high-quality ingredients, generous portions and classic recipes,” says Caleb of their menu.

Caleb doesn’t take the challenge of pleasing Canberrans lightly and is well aware of the task at hand.

“Canberrans know and love coffee. We believe we have the best coffee in Australia here in Canberra and the locals are always seeking out the best cup around!”

Partnering with local coffee roaster Redbrick ensures The Coffee Collective is top of its game.

Coming into the warmer weather, Calab has a secret weapon up his sleeves. His Ducle De Leche shake uses ice cream from Messina and packs a punch with a double shot of espresso. It’s the mid-morning slap in the face that a day in the office is screaming out for.

But what would the perfect cuppa or shake be without a bite to fill your tummy and Caleb has found caffeine’s best friend…toasties!

The toastie menu evolves as the seasons change but you can currently find a trio of toasties on the menu. All made on Three Mills Bakery sourdough, you can choose from a classic ham, cheese and tomato, an alt version with pickles and mustard added or an Italian, which is stuffed with bocconcini, smoked tomato relish, seasoned fresh tomato and basil pesto.

The Coffee Collective are located at 47 Wentworth Avenue, Kingston.

They’re open Monday to Friday from 7am until 12:30pm.
